So this month is South Africa’s women’s month and i salute them for setting aside a month to celebrate the beauty of womanhood. in honor of this, I’m reposting this.
So today is International Women’s Day. This inspired me to tell you about how I feel about womanhood and trust me I think and appreciate feminism and femininity every day. I love being female! There are moments when some women say or think to themselves, “if only I were a man.” Now I can’t say the thought has never crossed my mind. I remember when I was in secondary school and I was being punished for not making my hair or for not doing the proper hairstyle, the thought did cross my mind. And of course every month when Aunt Flo visits, I just think to myself how easy it would be to be a guy. I mean guys never have to spend so much time to look good. All they have to do is comb their hair, throw on whatever comes to hand, maybe rub powder and they’re good to go. Anyway, that’s how I picture it in my mind.
However, for us ladies, we gats make sure that everything is on point! We don’t mind spending the whole day in the salon to get the perfect hair. We don’t mind spending hours on make up just to make sure we look breathtaking. We take our time picking outfits, trying to mix and watch. Blue and green? Patterns and plain? Heels or flats? Trust me, all these takes smartness, it’s not easy. That’s why we can never have enough clothes! Now, some guys think we do all these things to attract them; abeg, make they pause. They are so so wrong. Now before you crucify me, I know that some girls do do these things to attract the opposite sex, but the smart ones (like me!), do it for themselves. Looking good makes you feel good and feeling good boosts up your confidence. That’s why we cat walk; it’s coz we feel good! So yeah, being a guy might be easy, but being a gal is so much fun!
Now guys say they can never understand women and they make a lot of jokes about this. Well, this is what I believe: women are simple creatures; men just have too small a brain to comprehend their ways. So thank you very much, we understand each other just fine! Guys, don’t kill me oh!
A woman is strong and powerful. She has the ability to carry a miracle inside her body. She has the capacity to actually give and nurture life. Every time I think about this, I get awed. This ability is so amazing that only experience can really lead to an understanding of it.
I can go on and on about the beauty and strength of a woman, but I’ll press the pause button for now. So go ahead and tell me your thoughts. Tell me reasons why you love being a woman and if you’re a guy, tell me the things you appreciate most in a woman. Let’s celebrate womanhood! And of course, don’t forget to share!
