CRAZINESS IN A SUIT

As uncivilised as they say Nigeria is, I’m still grateful for this nation. For one thing, it’s usually easy to identify a mad man. For the westerners, it’s not quite as easy. The really mad people wear suits and carry briefcases and seem very normal. A true case of ‘all that glitters ain’t gold’. They appear “civilized” on the outside but are really twisted upstairs. They really have the worst cases of mental disorders. Now I don’t mean to mock them or make light of their “situation”, but have you ever heard of a Nigerian who’s bedridden because of depression? Hunger never do you, and by the time Nigerian mothers give you a Holy Ghost slap, that depression go commot. Now, I’m not saying that we don’t have our own share of civilized crazy people, but please compared to the westerners, we are angels. How many times do you hear of a serial killer here in this country? Personally, I never have but maybe that’s because I don’t read the papers. How often do you hear of people who have multiple personality disorders? Or schizophrenia? Or some kind of weird disorder? Here, once you don kolo, it shows. That’s why they say psychologists in this part of the world would never make as much money as those over there. Now, let me share a couple of stories about craziness in a suit.

A seventeen year old girl (now eighteen) named Pearl Moen (pictured above) as reported by daily mail, pleaded guilty to stabbing a random stranger 21 times. This young girl went on home and wrote in her diary thus,

“I stabbed an innocent woman to death earlier today (well yesterday since it’s 1 a.m.)…  It was absolutely fantastic. Murder gives me a high unlike any other. It feels like this crisp unreality, flashing and sparkling, adrenaline and shock, fight or flight mode.”

She went on to state, “I’m so proud of myself. I stabbed her like 20 times. Maybe more. I wasn’t counting. She screamed and grabbed at me saying, ‘what the (swear word)?! Help. Leave.”

A 30 year old fire-fighter named Zackery Perry (pictured above) was charged with possession of child pornography, child sexual exploitation, distributing obscene material and crimes against nature. He was also apparently involved in the production of a video depicting sex acts between a woman and a dog (what?!). Investigators actually recovered photos and videos on the guy’s device implicating him.

Don’t you agree that these are civilised crazy people? Leave a comment and let me know.

  1. I think its wrong to write this from this angle. There are indeed people who have mental disorders in Nigeria, we see them everyday among us. Those who, at the slightest provocation, butcher a person to death or those who go ahead and defile young children. This is wrong. Those people did those things and yes, they may have mental disorders but since when is it right to laugh and poke fun at someone’s weakness, no matter how terrible it is?

    • Dear reader, Thank you very much for your contribution but God forbid should we make fun of a person’s misfortune, it was far from our intention. We write lifestyle and that includes everyday life. If You found this post uncomfortable or abusive, we would scrutinize our posts more carefully next time. Please check back.
